Is the book of Hebrews just for Jews

I’ve heard in your videos you reference Hebrews 10:26, a truly terrifying passage. Sometimes I still stumble backwards into sin, and at times it seems like I’ll never get out. So, is Hebrews 10:26 just for the Jews, or for us too? Some people say it was written to a certain group of Jews but I don’t know if I believe that. What are your thoughts?

Brother, you contacted me in order to help you stop sinning. Did you reject the truth before that point? Lets take another look at this passage.

Hebrews 10:26-31
26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.”   31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. NKJV
 

At what point did you “receive the knowledge of the truth” as it is mentioned in verse 26 above, and then reject it? I can’t find but just a few people even willing to hear the truth in this country, much less preach it. Are you telling me that you have heard the things we have covered so far, and have rejected them? I think not. The people who told you that Hebrews is only for the Jews have rejected it, but not you.

That passage of scripture has caused in you what it should cause in every Christian; the fear of God, which is used to perfect holiness.

2 Corinthians 7:1
1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. NKJV
 

You’ve probably heard that “all fear is of the devil.” That’s a lie. The truth is that all churches should be living in the fear of the Lord, but most have rejected that too, and they will receive their due unless they repent.

Acts 9:31
31 Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied. NKJV
 
1 Peter 1:17-19
17 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. NKJV
 

Many are quick to say that “perfect love cast out fear,” in keeping with 1 John 4:18, but they have no idea that this passage is speaking about our love being perfected, and not God’s love for us. Get this. Only those who “keep the Word” have the love of God perfected in them (verse:5 below). So, how can we say that love has been perfected in us, and has cast out our fear, if we not only “do not keep the Word of God,” but also reject parts of it?

1 John 2:3-10
3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning.   8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.
9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. 10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 11 But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. NKJV
 

The person who “loves” is also the person who has “no cause for stumbling in himself” (verse 10 above). Now look at the passage below, which is out of the same book (1 John), and notice who he is talking about that has not yet been made perfect in love.

1 John 4:17-21
17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him because He first loved us.
20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. NKJV
 

So, yes continue to read Hebrews and every other book in the New Testament, because the fear that the verses place in us is exactly what we need in order to complete the course. Check this passage out, which again is out of the same book (1 John).

1 John 3:4-9
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. NKJV
 

Can we continue in sin and say that we know Jesus according to verse 6 above? Read it again. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.  Now, you can see why it is so ludicrous to think that if a Christian ignores the book of Hebrews, that everything will just be okay in the end. No, it won’t.

Those who ignore Hebrews and teach others to do so, have to ignore many other passages of scripture that do not fit the doctrine they have come to believe.  They have rejected the Word of God, and so they will not make it my friend, unless they repent.

Take a look at this, and ask yourself will anyone who does not come to know Jesus make it (Matthew 7:21-23)?

Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me,’Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’  23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ NKJV
 

If we believe and trust Jesus Christ, then we believe that we must come to know Him or we won’t make it, according to what Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23, and Luke 13:22-28.

How do we come to know Jesus? I was told that as soon as we ask Him into our hearts we know Him, but what does the Word of God say?

Can Christians lose their salvation

Can Hebrews 6:1-8 happen to a Christian? Do you think it is possible for this type of christian to lose his salvation, or according to 1 Corinthians 5:5, will his spirit only to be saved and not his body?

First I would like to say that Hebrews 6 is just as true as John 3. Sometimes we may not understand how two things that seemingly contrast can both be true, but we need to always trust God and lean not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

The Bible never says that a Christian “cannot” lose their salvation. That’s something that we assume, and love to hear in keeping with 2 Timothy 4:3-4. It seems to be right, but we are instructed not to add to the Word of God (Proverbs 30:5-6), and to only speak and think what is written, even in our hearts (Romans 10:6-8, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5). Check the verses.

Knowing these verses, the first thing that should come to mind whenever we hear something that seems right is “where is it written?” If it is not written, it is not needed for this life (2 Peter 1:3-4). We only know in part (1 Corinthians 13:9), but the part we know contains everything we need for life.

Read Hebrews 2:1-3 out loud a few times. I want you to read it out loud, because faith comes by hearing (Rom 10:17), and if you are accustomed to speaking against what is written, like millions of Christians today, then you may not be able to see it if you don’t read it out loud (1 Timothy 6:20-21).

Hebrews 2:1-3
1 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,  NKJV

Can we neglect our salvation according to verse 3 above? Why do so many preach the opposite? They can no longer see the verses that they willingly speak against (1 Timothy 6:20-21), and you will be the same if you, now after knowing the truth, reject the truth in order to fit in with the blind.

John 12:42-43
42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. NKJV

Hebrews chapter 2 sets the stage for Hebrews chapter 6. Yes, he is talking to Christians, who should already know and be practicing the elementary things, such as repentance from dead works, faith, the doctrine of baptism (covered in Romans ch 6), eternal judgment, and the like. Yes, this can happen, and is happening to Christians today.

Hebrews 6:1-8
1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do if God permits.
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.
7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God; 8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned. NKJV

Think about this. If we lived by faith in accordance with Romans 10:6-8, we would never allow our heart to speak against Hebrews 2:1-3 above, in order that we could be righteous by faith, as it is promised, and gain control over our bodies (James 3:2).

Romans 10:6-8
 6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?'” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “‘Who will descend into the abyss?'” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): NKJV

James 3:2
2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. NKJV

Knowing these things, and putting them into practice, will not only enable us to control our bodies (self-control), but they will also identity for us, “who does not have self control, and who is false” by their fruits (Matthew 7:15-20, 12:33-37).

Therefore, I will never say that a Christian cannot “neglect” (throw away, disregard) their salvation, and they do that by “not” paying close attention to the Word, and thereby drifting away (Hebrews 2:1-3). You can be sure that those who preach against those verses are not being led to preach by the Holy Spirit. By their fruits you will recognize them.

So, to answer your question concerning Hebrews 6, yes I believe it is possible, and very probable that most Christians today will lose their salvation, because according to Jesus Christ, most will take the broad path (Matthew 7:13-14). As it is written below, they seek to enter, but they will not be able. They call Jesus Lord, “Lord, Lord, did we not do this or that in Your name,” but they ignored even the elementary instructions.

Luke 13:23-29
23 Then one said to Him, “Lord, are there few who are saved?” And He said to them, 24 “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying,’Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you,’I do not know you, where you are from,’ 26 then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ 27 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’ 28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. NKJV

As evidence of this, I don’t believe that there is even one church left in this country that preaches the doctrine of abiding in Jesus Christ according to John 15:1-6, and there are forty other passages of scripture that we have rejected, if not more. I’m not just talking about some little hole in the wall church, but every mainstream denomination in this country, preaches in direct opposition of what Jesus Christ said in John 15:1-6, and forty other passages of scripture.

Therefore, it is very obvious to me that most church attending people today, have already rejected Jesus Christ, and refuse even to acknowledge His Word. Is it the Holy Spirit that makes us ignore John 15:1-6? They say “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,” and they sing “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,” but they reject His teachings, and have replaced it with the doctrines of men, just as the Pharisees did.

Matthew 15:7-14
7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 8 “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'”  
10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand:  11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” 12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” 13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.  14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” NKJV

Even when these things are mentioned to them, they refuse to repent, and return to the Word. So, yes I believe millions of Christians in this country are doomed to the fire of hell, or at best “outer darkness” (Matthew 8:12, 22:13, 25:30).

According to the Word of God, we are instructed, not to welcome anyone who does not bring the doctrine of abiding in Jesus Christ (2 John 1:9-11). Some of the newer Bibles have changed this to say “the teachings of Jesus,” but either way, is not John 15:1-6 a part of the teachings of Jesus?

2 John 9-11
9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds. NKJV

So how can those, who reject the precepts, have a good understanding (Psalm 111:10)? They can’t, but they have millions of followers, who refuse to recognize them according to their fruits, but they honor them according to their worldly statue. In doing so, they also reject 2 Corinthians 5:16, and Philippians 3:3-4.

Is 1 Corinthians 3:14-15 talking about the fire of hell

I have a question concerning branches who don’t bear fruit. They will be cast down into the fire, according to what Jesus Christ has said (John 15:5-6), but is this the fire of hell or going through the fire as it is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 3:14-15, and yet still be saved?

What we have to keep in mind is that we cannot go beyond what is written (1 Corinthians 4:6), or add to the Word (Proverbs 30:5-6), and there are some things that we will not be able to answer right now, because of that. We only know in part (1 Corinthians 13:9). So, with that said, is it the fire of hell? Let’s take a look at the verses  in the gospels concerning bearing fruit.

John 15:1-7
15 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.  2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.  3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.  4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.  6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. NKJV

Luke 3:7-9
7 Then he said to the multitudes that came out to be baptized by him,”Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. 9 And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” NKJV

Matthew 7:15-23
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.  16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?  17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.  19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Matthew 12:33-37
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.  34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.  36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.  37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” NKJV

Those verses to not identify the fire as being the fire of hell. However, lets consider what they do say, and place our explanation within what is described by them.

A bad tree cannot bear good fruit, and a good tree cannot bear bad fruit (Matthew 7:18 above). If we make the tree good, its fruit will be good (Matthew 12:33 above).

So, who are the branches that do not bear fruit, or that bear bad fruit? There are people of this world, who have no intention of bearing fruit, and there are Christians who stop bearing fruit, and perhaps some of them have been taken away as described in John 15:2 above. There are many different people in this group, but I believe that 1 Corinthians 3:15 refers to Christians who have built falsely, or deceitfully, which would certainly include many if not all of the TV preachers today, and Christians who have believed the lies of those who build falsely.

So, what will become of them according to the Words of Jesus Christ? Again, lets read the scriptures.

Don’t misunderstand grace

Don’t misunderstand grace. While working with the homeless, I have seen many people, who were addicted, or who lived alternative life styles that were delivered from sin by grace in a few days, but most of them reject righteousness.

What do I mean? First of all know that it was grace that saved us, which came through faith (Ephesians 2:6-8). However, being saved is only the beginning of the Christian life.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, NKJV

Like most of us, you may not have known what happen to you, but you know that something happened when you were saved, and just like new-born animals looking to their mother, you accepted the explanation you were given by whoever was standing there when you opened your eyes. Your mind was telling you, “this is real,” and so you accepted the explanation you were given.

I’m telling you to test that explanation with truth, found in your Bible (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Why? Most evangelist on TV and radio never preach the Gospel, but they only lead people into repenting of their sins using worldly wisdom, which we are instructed not to use (1 Corinthians 1:17, below). I haven’t heard anyone preach the Gospel in the past twenty years, but just maybe there is someone out there somewhere.

1 Corinthians 1:17  For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. NKJV

Because no one is preaching the Gospel, millions of saved people, reject the teachings of Jesus, and hold to the doctrines of men.

Matthew 15:8-9 “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'”  NKJV

“Go have a personal relationship” with Jesus is not in the Bible; nor are many other sayings that the unrighteous use.

The unrighteous suppress the truth (Romans 1:18), and they do not submit to God’s way of being righteous (Romans 10:3). If you don’t want to be unrighteous, start practicing righteousness (1 John 2:29, 3:7). By their fruits you will recognize them (Matthew 7:15-20). Let us repent and return to the Lord our God.

Christians, who are righteous by faith, do not speak against the faith, even in their heart (Romans 10:6-8). That’s the passage of scripture that you should have heard right before you were told to say “Jesus is Lord,” but the unrighteous always suppress it.

Romans 10:6-10  But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?'” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “‘Who will descend into the abyss?'” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. NKJV

Notice that the sentence does not start with verse 9, but that’s where the unrighteous start every time. Do not be like them, but accept God’s way of being righteous. Don’t be like the Pharisees of old, who traveled land and sea making sons of hell (Matthew 23:15). Teach people about God’s righteousness in accordance with what is written in the Bible.

2 Reasons why Christians should never celebrate Halloween

These days, we have come up with a Christian way of doing just about everything that non-Christians do, but what does the Bible say? There isn’t a verse in the Bible that says, “Do not celebrate Halloween.”

However, we do serve a jealous God.

1 Corinthians 10:21-22 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons. 22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He? NKJV

James 4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. NKJV

Reason #1, why Christians should not celebrate Halloween is because the Lord will judge His people (Hebrews 10:30).

Most Christians believe that the devil is the cause of anything that is considered bad that happens to them. That’s what we have been taught, but that’s not what is written in the scriptures.

The Lord has no problem whatsoever with protecting us from the devil (2 Thessalonians 3:3), but it is our sins that give us over (1 John 5:18).

2 Thessalonians 3:3  But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. NKJV

1 John 5:18  We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. NKJV

However, if you are a believer, then the Lord will discipline you so that you will not be condemned with the people of this world. Check the verses below before you speak against them in your heart (Romans 10:6-8), which is the reason why many Christians do not know them (1 Timothy 6:20-21, Mark 4:24-25).

1 Corinthians 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. NKJV

Hebrews 12:4-8  You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. 5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”  7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. NKJV

Notice that according to verse 8 above, if you are without chastening (humbling, discipline) then you are not true sons. All Christians undergo chastening, or discipline, or whatever your Bible calls it according to that verse. Check these verses from your version of the Bible.

Basically, verse 8 above is saying that if you are not a believer, then you will not experience discipline. In other words, if you got saved, one day way back when, but you do not accept the Words of Jesus Christ, which are written in your Bible, then Jesus will not judge you, but the Words that He spoke will judge you on the last day according to the Word of the Lord written in John 12:46-48 below.

John 12:46-48  I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.  47 And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.  48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him — the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. NKJV

As you can see, according to the verses, there are Christians who believe and receive their due on earth during their lifetime (1 Peter 4:17-19), because we reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7-10), and there are Christians who take the broad path (Matthew 7:13-14), which will be the ones with gnashing teeth on the last day (Luke 13:24-28). Check the verses.

This is why you should never compare yourself with any Christian, even though you may participate in the same events, because most Christians are in the group that will not experience any discipline now, but you (a believer) will.

Why? There are many more Christians on the broad path, and only a few take the narrow path, according to what Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14, and Luke 13:24-28.

You don’t have to understand these things now, but make sure that you believe the verses, and do not speak against them (Romans 10:6-8). That’s one of the main reasons why most Christians do not have these verses living in them today ( Mark 4:24-25). Just by speaking against the faith, we can fall away from it (1 Timothy 6:20-21). Therefore, they speak as if these verses are not even written in the Bible (blindness, Ephesians 4:17-19).

Reason #2, why Christians should not celebrate Halloween is because we should be dying to self rather than rebuilding what was destroyed. Let me explain. (more…)
