No power against sin, discard the human precepts!

God’s Word contains all the power Christians need in order to turn from evil (Jeremiah 23:22), but worldly wisdom takes the power out of what Christ has done for us (1 Corinthians 1:17). Check the verses.

Most Christians believe that this world’s wisdom is a good thing, and so we welcome the wisdom of the wise in most churches today, but what does God think?

This world’s wisdom is foolishness to God (1 Corinthians 3:18-20), and the things that are highly valued among the people of this world today are detestable in God’s sight (Luke 16:15). Check the verses!

So, your only problem may be that you are full of worldly Christian sayings, and not full of God’s Word, which is all you need to stop sinning. Think about that.

Worldly wisdom is exactly what is choking the life out of millions of Christians today, but they are unaware of it. God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6), and the little Word that we do know is being choked out by the tons of worldly wisdom our flesh enjoys.

It’s just like having a clogged fuel filter in a car; the power is diminished. Worldly traditions make the Word of God of no effect (Matthew 15:6, 13:22).

Why was Ephraim oppressed (burdened, troubled, overloaded) according to Hosea 5:11 below?

Hosea 5:11  Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, Because he willingly walked by human precept. NKJV

Most Christians have no idea that God is not pleased with the worldly wisdom that everyone is turning to these days, but God wants His followers to make sure that no one takes us captive by philosophy, worldly traditions, or worldly principles (Colossians 2:8). Check the verse.

It’s not a matter of if something works. Pharaoh’s magicians produced some of the same signs that Moses did by God’s hand, but did they make it to Heaven? So, what did the things that they accomplished serve to do? It served to draw them away from the only God, in whom nothing is impossible, and the same is true today. All those who delight in unrighteousness, and do not “love” the truth, will be condemned!

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12  The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. NKJV

You might say, “Well it’s not me but them!” However, even though you do not own the vehicle, if you help supply the gas, you are just as guilty. God says, “Can two walk together if they are not in agreement” (Amos 3:3)?

We have instructions from God to turn away from every brother who walks disorderly, and does not keep the Word (2 Thessalonians 3:6, 14), and to turn away from anyone who has a form of godliness, but rejects God’s power, which is already contained in God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:5).

You can certainly do what you want to do, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord in keeping with His ways, which are clearly written in His Word for all to see or reject (Joshua 24:15-24). I’m Alan Ballou; a servant.
