What do people get when they get saved? by alan ballou

What do people get when they get saved? What is promised to a person who just says “Jesus is Lord” in a place called church and then goes back to sit down according to what is written? Yes we have redemption, forgiveness of sins, but what else?

Colossians 1:12-14

12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. NKJV

We have also been delivered from the power of darkness and qualified (made eligible) to be “partakers of the inheritance of the saints (the faithful in Christ). Does forgiveness of sins mean that we can continue in sin?

 Hebrews 10:26-27

26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. NKJV

No one preaches that and no one preaches that we have been “qualified to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints,” but that we already have the inheritance. Why? More than likely it’s because they can no longer see the verses, since they continually speak against them and say “amen” when others preach against them (1 Timothy 6:20-21).

If you don’t believe that, just google any denomination you want and then look up their “what we believe page.” There you will find statements in opposition to the verses above and the verses I will show you below concerning eternal life. In these you can see for yourself just how far we have drifted away from the truth.

Galatians 6:7-10

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. NKJV

That passage speaks of sowing to please the Spirit as opposed to sowing to please the flesh in order to “reap eternal life.” You won’t find that passage of scripture in any doctrine of faith page, but the exact opposite of it. Most say, “You don’t have to do anything,” and a few even say that if you do something that you “won’t” make it.

How could we drift so far as to come up with our own version of the gospel? It is written that most of us would!

 2 Timothy 4:3-4

4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. NKJV

No one tests what is said any more. No, if the man up in front of us says it, then it has to be true for us, and once we say “amen” (let it be so for me and my family) then we fall away from the faith (1 Timothy 6:20-21, Romans 10:6-8). Check the verses!

You might be thinking that these are some back-woods churches out in the middle of no-where, but no these are the biggest places you can find with hundreds of people. The little hole in the wall places seem to be a lot closer to the truth and that is in keeping with Luke 13:22-28; the biggest crowd is certainly not evidence of being on the right path. Never look at the building, the number of followers, or anything else but ask yourself if the preaching matches what is written. If they are not afraid to preach the Word like 2 Timothy 4:1-2 demands then verses like I am showing you here will be welcomed rather than ignored. How about the next passage of scripture on eternal life?

Ephesians 5:5-11

5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them. 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. NKJV

Here is a list of people who cannot possibly have any inheritance and yet places that are caught up in crowd pleasing (2 Timothy 4:3-4 above) promise everyone an inheritance even if they remain in darkness. They never warn anyone that they may not have an inheritance if they do not change, but instead promise everyone a “once saved always saved” gospel in order to build the crowd.

Now they are trapped with a large number of people who only want to hear the goody-goody verses, because if they start preaching the truth, people will leave by the hundreds to find the message they want to hear in keeping with 2 Timothy 4:3-4. Galatians 5:19-20 and 1 Corinthians 6:9 are similar list which show people who do not have an inheritance even though they might have gotten saved. How about the next set of verses concerning eternal life?

1 Timothy 6:11-14

11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing NKJV

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life. Why do we need to fight the good fight of faith? It’s because the end of our “faith” is the salvation of our souls (1 Peter 1:9). Shrinking back from living by faith, means no salvation of the soul (Hebrews 10:36-39), but that doesn’t fit into the “what people want to hear” category and neither does Philippians 2:13 below.

Philippians 2:12

12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. NKJV

Why would we need to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, or fight the good fight of faith if “once saved always saved” were true? Hum. In fact, why should we be shocked if a person who believes “once saved always saved” goes out and continues living like the world? These false teachers have assured him that he can’t lose his salvation so why change? In that you should be able to see what these people are creating with their false message; brute beasts, monsters.

What if you never heard anyone preach, but you just picked up a Bible and started reading and simply believed what you read. What would you know about eternal life after reading and believing these next few passages of scripture?

 Romans 2:5-11

5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:   7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness — indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; 10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For there is no partiality with God. NKJV

 John 6:27

27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” NKJV

 John 5:28-29

28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice  29 and come forth — those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. NKJV

 Revelation 22:14-15

14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. NKJV

 John 5:24

24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. NKJV

Revelation 21:7-8

7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” NKJV

What would your view of receiving eternal life be? Would it be anything close to what you would find on a “what we believe” page, or a “doctrine of faith” page? Now, Imagine knowing these verses for yourself and then some smooth talker comes up to you and tells you that you got eternal life when you got saved and it cannot be taken away from you. He looks the part. He’s leading hundreds, even thousands of people, but where is he leading them?

The question is, are you going to say “show me the verses and I will believe it,” or “I like what you said so I will follow you?” Most people go by which preacher sounds the best which is very much in line with 2 Timothy 4:3-4. Therefore, the end is happening just the way it is written that it will. Most people will not make it (Luke 13:22-28). I’m Alan Ballou; a servant.

2 Timothy 4:3-4

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. NKJV
