How Does Sin Control Christians

Contrary to popular belief, there is not a different set of instructions in the Holy Bible for alcoholics, drug addicts, sex offenders, homosexuals, compulsive liars, and the like. Although there are many different types of sins, there is only one set of instructions; obey the doctrine. Check the verse below and only believe the Word of God before you accidentally speak against it.

Romans 6:17-18
17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. NKJV

The same set of instructions work for any type sin. Let that sink into your brain. We stumble because we disobey the message (1 Peter 2:8), and not because we are given over to this type of sin, or that type of sin.

Our bodies are controlled spiritually (Ephesians 2:1-3, Romans 6:16-18). Therefore, our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual powers of darkness that control us (Ephesians 6:12). Notice in Ephesians 2:1-3 below that it is a spirit that makes the sons of disobedience disobey.

Ephesians 2:1-3
1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. NKJV

The whole world is under the sway of the wicked one (1 John 5:19, below), and they do not know it.

1 John 5:19
19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. NKJV

It is a spirit that makes us participate in the ways of this world (Ephesians 2:1-3 above), and it is grace itself teaches us to deny worldly lust (Titus 2:11-14). If a Christian tries to work on his sin problem without having access to grace through faith (Romans 5:2), then he is simply following a man-made method, with only an appearance of wisdom (Colossians 2:20-23).

You probably won’t understand these things now, but know that you will never be set free from the control of sin if you never obey the teachings found in your Holy Bible, which includes an explanation of how sin works, how it controls us, and how we should overcome it.

God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, which means that we don’t know something that we should know (Hosea 4:6). The Lord has no problem whatsoever with protecting us from the devil (2 Thessalonians 3:3), but it is our sins that give us over.

1 John 5:18
18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. NKJV

Most of the time, we focus on the particular sins that we commit, but there is no difference in the outcome of sins that lead to death. For example, there is no difference in the spiritual outcome of an alcoholic and a slanderer, or a liar. All of them are headed for the fire of hell if they do not turn (Galatians 5:19-21). Check it!

Revelation 21:7-8
7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” NKJV

As you can see, there is no difference in the eternal future of a liar, and the sexually immoral. However, many who are sexually immoral try and find solutions for their problem, but liars can make it all the way to the top of huge companies without a desire to change. A good liar is considered a trade this day and age.

Therefore, what would it matter in the end if the spirit that is controlling a person and making him disobey, switched from drugs to adultery? The destruction in their life might be less obvious, and they may even have a sense of accomplishment, but hell will be just as hot.

Jesus came to destroy the devil’s work in us, and not just to forgive us of our sins so that we can continue in it (verse 8 below). Let that sink in. Just as much as Jesus came to save us, He also came to destroy the devil’s work in us.

Read the following passage of scripture out loud, and decide today if you just want to stop one particular sin in your life, or if you want to be set free from sins that lead to death, as all those who are born of God should be.

1 John 3:7-10
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. 10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. NKJV

Those verses are usually shocking the first time you actually see them. Now that you know them, what are you going to do with them? If you mention them where you attend church, they will ignore you, and seek to kick you out. As soon as they get rid of you, they will go right back to believing that everything is ok. I’ve already been kicked out of several places.

If you hide these verses like every other Christian, then they will leave you, and then you can fit right back in with those who have rejected them. It won’t take long; read the following verse.

Luke 8:11-12
11 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. [12] Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. NKJV

If you reject these verses, then in no time at all it will be as though these verses do not even exist, and you will fit right back in with the people around you. To the one who has, more will be given, but to the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away (Mark 4:24-25). We can’t make it on the path that seems right, but we’re going to have to get it right.

Proverbs 16:25
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. NKJV

However, if you accept these verses and begin to proclaim them, then there will be a division between you and the people who do not accept them, and this could very well include your closest family members. Check it!

Matthew 10:34-39
34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. 35 For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; 36 and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ 37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. NKJV

Make sure that you are ready for that (Luke 14:28). He who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for the Kingdom (Luke 9:62), but he who endures to the end shall be saved (Matthew 10:22).

If you want to be set free from sin’s control then you are going to have to learn how sin works according to the scriptures; how it controls us. My friend, watch the video above, and learn the verses for yourself. It’s not the best quality, but there is a lot of information that you need to know in it.

Know this right here. God is with the contrite (Isaiah 66:2, 57:15). To be contrite is to have a godly sorrow for sin with a determination not to sin again. If you are determined not to sin again, then you are surely following the doctrine. Let us repent and return to the Lord our God in keeping with His way found in His Word. Amen.

Some sins are obvious, and some, which are just as deadly, are not obvious (1 Timothy 5:24). For example, it would not be any better spiritually to be delivered from drugs, just to remain a liar, or a slanderer, since neither of them inherit the Kingdom of God in the end (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21, Ephesians 5:3-7).

Drug treatment centers certainly help people get off drugs, but are there any that help people be set free from sin in accordance with scripture? I think not.

It is my opinion that having an obvious sin problem is better than having one that is not obvious, since in the least the person with the obvious sin problem will try to correct the problem, but there is no hope for those who willfully continue in sin that leads to death, obvious or not (Hebrews 10:26).

I’m really not in the business of helping people get off drugs, alcohol, but I’m in the business saving souls (James 5:19-20, below). I help believers to be set free from sin’s control. Deliverance from drugs, and alcohol and every other sin that leads to death is simply a by-product of that. I rarely focus on a particular sin, because the Bible based solution works for all of them.

James 5:19-20

19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. NKJV

Praise God, I have seen many people delivered from crack, and alcohol in a few days by following this process, but just as soon as some of them stopped following the instructions, they hit destruction again. Why? It’s because the Holy Bible is not a “get off drugs, and alcohol enough to cope with life” program, but a calling to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:1-4).

Shortly after leaving the path that God has called us to walk, we will meet destruction. Some call it relapse, or a setback, but I call it “harsh discipline!” Check the verse.

Proverbs 15:9-10
The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But He loves him who follows righteousness. 10 Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, And he who hates correction will die. NKJV

Christians on drugs don’t need a drug program, but they need the same solution that liars need. Now that they are saved, they need to know God’s instructions found in God’s Word, which includes information on how sin works, so that they will not be a slave to sin their entire life.

If you believe your own Bible and have questions for me, ask. If you will not believe the scriptures, then please seek help from a man-made method. There are millions of people teaching man-made methods, even inside churches today. So, it shouldn’t be too hard to find someone.

Farewell.

  1. Thank for the email!
I received faith for deliverance from ALL sin nearly 20 years ago. If I stumble at some point, when I realize my sin, I ask forgiveness, receive forgiveness, and count on the promise that He will cleanse me of that unrighteousness. And I can attest that He brings it to pass! He does it! I do the repenting, and He does the cleaning! Most that I have met that profess Messiah as their King say things like, “We will always be sinners!”. I say, “Where is that in scripture?” It isn’t there! Be it done to us according to our faith! We overcome by the blood of the Lamb, AND the word of our testimony. We say what God says, not what religious traditions have programmed us to say. You will never overcome like that.
